Review spt 8000 btu window air conditioner wa-6011s

This unit has worked miracles in a un-conditioned attic closet space that was starting to grow mold. I have installed the unit without a drain line instead relying on the moisture purge/exhaust feature to remove any condensate buildup from he unit. I was skeptical this would work at first, but the thing has been running for months now in the humid south without filling the drain pan up.

Why four stars? Being a single host system this unit exhausts air out the window and puts a negative pressure on the house as a whole. While it's not much of a negative pressure, my house is 110 years old and leaks like a sieve so the negative pressure draws in hot, humid air from those leaks. There is no option to have the unit fan shut off after it's cooling cycle, so the unit is ALWAYS pulling this negative pressure on the house. If this is a concern for the area you plan to condition, you're better off going with a two-hose unit.

Very nice unit. Effective, easy to use. Easy to install. The timer and remote make this product even better!
Our place is an 1800 sq ft loft home. This unit cools it nicely. We usually shut it because we get chilly.
It has a wide choice of modes. High, Low, Auto and you can choose the temp. It has a timer and a handy remote. We keep the remote up in the loft so we can turn it off at night.
I think this is a great unit! Highly recommend.

Long story short we needed a portable unit. I have no experience with them so was really going by other peoples review. If you order be pro-active and measure your window. I had to cut the window extender to fit properly. However that was really easy and solved the problem. Buy some aluminum foil tape to securely attached the hose to the unit and the window extender, and that's it. Took 15 min to set up. The unit is really powerful and not to loud. Great purchase
