Very quiet and compact, which are
the two features I wanted most out of it. The thermostat works great,
but sometimes the fan goes on for very short periods and then off again,
which seems unnecessary. The remote is awesome, and the Sleep function
is one of those things that you didn't think you needed but is actually
quite nice to have.
For the price this seems to be the best of
the category, and the UPS guy said he had been delivering a boatload of
these this summer, so they must be popular.
The STOOOOPID feature
of this unit is that it beeps loudly every time you change the setting.
If I had a nickel for every time this unit woke up my 5-month old son,
well... I'd have like 30 cents by now. Someone on Amazon reviews
posted a hack for this that says how to crack it open and disable the
beeping, but I've already installed it so I'm probably not going to do
that.
The 6000 BTU is just fine for a 14x14 room. I don't think
you need to go up to 8000 unless the room is substantially bigger, or
unless it has very high ceilings, or unless you are a penguin. However,
if you ARE a penguin, you probably should live outside, in which case an
A/C just wouldn't make any sense at all for your lifestyle, regardless
of the BTUs. So you give that some serious thought, penguin.
