got this exact model from bestbuy through ebay a few weeks ago and it
really saved me because i live in portland oregon and it was so
unbearably hot this year. i never owned an air conditioner unit ever
but this week we hit 98,103,101,and 99 degree so i knew i has to get
one.
all i really needed was something cheap to make it bearable and i would be happy. during this rare stretch of heat i was able to keep the temperature of the room from 76-79 degrees even when the temp hit 103 i only had to run it maybe 40-45 minutes out of the hour at its peak and let it rest the other 15-20 minutes at about 6 setting on high cool and it had no problem getting to 76. to get below that though i would have to run it continuously for atleast an hour i felt 76 was good enough.
the room i installed it in was 160 square feet but our house is well insulated and it is the coolest room in the house because it is on the side of the house where the sun only shines in the morning/ i have trees around it to help also. i think that makes alot of difference in why it performed pretty well.
when it was in the 90's i only had to run it on high cool 6 for maybe 30 minutes out of every hour so i was able to rest the unit alot.
so the air conditioner can easily get the room to 76 the way i use it but it seems to have trouble getting below that unless i run it continuously and then i was able to get to 74, but i'm really not picky at all coming from having no air conditioner at all to having one means that i am pretty easy to please.
the noise level is normal loud but it does not bother me at all. and the temp blowing out of the unit was 52-54 degrees at high cool 6
the only reason i'm not giving 5 star is i don't know the longevity of the item. but i think if i don't tax it too much -follow the instructions so you don't burn out the compressor and take care of it -it could last a long time. plus i only need it for a handful of the times out of the year that it gets this hot up here as it usually does not.
i would recommend if you have a well insulated area to use this in, and are not too picky on getting it ice cold in your room. also the electric usage of this unit is very good as i checked my daily electric usage and it barely higher than the days i didn't use it
