This small A/C is perfect for a
bedroom: it has a thermostat, a "Sleep Mode" where it gradually
decreases the temp over the evening, and it installs easy thanks to the
adjustable side panels. Having a remote (no trudging out of bed to
change the temp) and a programmable timer makes it even more convenient.
In
theory the electronic (washable) air filter is also a nice feature. I
haven't had it long enough to really say how well it works, but I did
take it out and wash it (just use warm water and dish soap) and after
two weeks of use it was dirty, so it's doing something.
It's
reasonably quiet, but let's face it, it's a compressor with a fan. It's
going to make noise. On really humid days you will get a pretty good
water drip going outside. It's a dehumidifier (which helps the comfort
level a lot) and that water has to go somewhere. You'll want to plan
for that when you install it. You won't want this dripping onto a
outdoor living area such as a deck.
One other catch is that if
you enable "Remote Sensing" and then set your remote in a sunny spot,
your AC may over-cool the room. Overall though this is a great unit
that works well at a reasonable price.
The Frigidaire Energy Star works
well and provides adequte cooling for a small room or outbuilding, The
unit is rated at 6,000 BTU and cools a room up to 250 sq. ft.. Window
units always create a bit of noise when operating and the Frigidaire is
no exception in this regard.
The remote is easy to operate.
It
comes with a window mounting kit consisting of baffles. The minimum
window height opening is 14 inches and the minimum width 23 inches
minimum (36 inches maximum for the baffles that come with the unit).
The attached power cord is 6.5 ft. long and is three-prong.
